jasper hotels

Hotels in Jasper Alberta range from value priced motels in the townsite to luxury lodge style accommodation on the shores of Lake Annette. Most Jasper hotels are located in the downtown area, mainly on Connaught Drive, which is convenient for those wanting to stay within walking distance of Jasper’s many restaurants and shops.
Whether you need a Jasper hotel, B&B, campground, or backcountry lodge, our Jasper lodging guide below should help you find what you are looking for.

Also, if you are travelling beyond Jasper, bear in mind that both our Banff guide and Lake Louise guide have comprehensive information about Banff National Park hotels.

Jasper Hotels

Jasper hotels offer a wide range of price points and locations and tend to be somewhat more affordable than the equivalent hotels in Banff. Most of the 3 or 4 star accommodation is located within the town of Jasper, while some luxury resorts have their own extensive grounds on the outskirts of town, usually in a more natural setting. As is common in western Canada, Jasper hotel rooms are often sold on a ‘room only’ basis leaving you free and flexible to explore the excellent restaurants on offer in downtown Jasper. Jasper Alberta is similar to other Canadian Rockies towns, in that its hotels usually offer more spacious rooms than overseas visitors may be accustomed to.

Inns & Motels

Inns and motels in Jasper are usually smaller and more economical than hotels but are still larger and probably have more facilities than a typical Jasper B&B. Most Jasper motels and inns offer an onsite restaurant and other public amenities such as a steam room or hot tub.

Cabins & Condos

Cabins and condos in Jasper normally have a kitchen facility and living area, making them an ideal choice for longer stay guests, or for families who prefer to cook for themselves instead of dining in restaurants. They can take the form of a studio, or one and two bedroom units or even larger. Cabins tend to be individual buildings, often in a park-like setting, which offer more privacy and breathing room than most lodging options in Jasper.

Jasper Bed and Breakfast

Bed and breakfast is a popular choice in the Canadian Rockies, and staying at a Jasper B&B can offer a real ‘home away from home’ feeling. A typical Jasper Bed and Breakfast is smaller than a hotel or motel and would probably have fewer than 10 rooms with a common living/dining area. A great advantage of staying in a B&B is that the owner has probably spent many years in Jasper and would be a great person to advise you on the best things to see and do in Jasper National Park. The price of staying at a B&B is usually lower than most hotel room rates, and of course includes your breakfast, which can either be a full hot breakfast or continental breakfast, depending on the establishment.

Hostels

Except for camping, hostels offer the most economical accommodation in Jasper, and they are popular with students, backpackers, and many hikers and climbers. Sharing rooms is common in a hostel and is the best way to keep the price down, although private rooms are sometimes available if you don’t mind spending a bit more.

Campgrounds & RV

Jasper and Banff National Parks both have an excellent variety and standard of campgrounds, often in spectacular settings. For this reason camping is very popular in the Canadian Rockies, and it is strongly advised to make reservations ahead of time, especially in July and August. Most Jasper campgrounds have RV hook up facilities as well as areas dedicated to tents, although facilities can differ from campground to campground, so it’s best to do your research before you travel.

Backcountry Lodges

If you want to get away from it all and find real seclusion in a natural setting then staying at a backcountry lodge may be the answer. To get to to a backcountry lodge you normally need to be hiking, riding a horse, flying in by helicopter, or skiing, but the resulting peace and tranquility is well worth the effort. These lodges are normally quite rustic and provide excellent bases for further exploration of the surrounding wilderness.
